Clinics & Lessons

Whether you have never played Pickleball, or have only played a few times, our Beginner Clinic Series and our Beginner Clinics are for you! These Beginner Clinics are offered several times a month on weekdays, weeknights and weekends. If you cannot find a Clinic that fits your schedule, or you or your group are interested in scheduling a Custom Lesson, Clinic or Special Group Event at one of our locations, or at your club or neighborhood, please fill out our Custom Request Form.

Be sure to wear athletic shoes and come ready to learn how to play Pickleball! Your clinic fee includes a rental paddle to use, balls and all other necessary equipment. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Pickleball 101, 201, 301 and the Beginner Series are taught by Pickleball Charlotte Instructors and experienced local Pickleball clinicians and ambassadors.

BEGINNER SERIES (0-0-Start) – (Note: All Pickleball games Start by the first player saying “0-0-Start” or “0-0-2”.) What better way to Start your Pickleball journey than by joining us for our special two-hour, two-day Pickleball EXTRAVAGANZA where you will learn and experience why Pickleball is the fastest growing game in America.  This Series is designed to teach the basics of Pickleball while preparing you for organized play at Pickleball Charlotte, or anywhere in the Pickleball community.  You will learn basic, Pickleball-specific skills, integrate into some Beginner Open Play sessions, and most importantly have FUN!

PICKLEBALL 101 – This clinic is designed for players that are brand new to the game.  We will introduce the basic skills of the serve, the return, paddle position, rules, and how to keep score. There will be 20 minutes of gameplay to conclude the session.

PICKLEBALL 201 –This clinic is a follow up to Pickleball 101 or any Beginner Clinic.  The emphasis is control of your backhand and forehand groundstrokes, basic blocking, the overhead, and an introduction to dinking.  There will be 20 minutes of gameplay to conclude the session.

PICKLEBALL 301 – This clinic is a follow up to Pickleball 201.  The clinic puts an emphasis on control, shot selection, court positioning and gameplay while also improving upon the skills learned in Pickleball 101 and 201.

Are you ready to take your Pickleball game to the next level?

Once you have completed the Beginner Clinic Series, or have been playing Pickleball for a while, consider signing up for one of the many Specialty Clinics offered by Pickleball Charlotte. Specialty Clinics are usually scheduled for specific Player Levels. (2.0-3.0 Beginner, 3.0-3.5 Intermediate, 3.5-4.0+ Advanced) to allow all players to play with other players of the same or similar Player Level. See below for a list and description of the various Specialty Clinics offered.

3 AND ME – This clinic is an opportunity to play WITH an instructor who can provide immediate feedback and tips.  The instructor will play with each of the three participants to work on strategies and decision-making tactics.

COACHED GAME PLAY – This clinic allows you to receive immediate feedback from an instructor while playing with others of similar skill level.  Control, shot selection, and court positioning are some of the key topics covered during this session.

SKILLS & DRILLS – This clinics will break down skills into teachable components so that you can put them into game play immediately. Skills that will be covered include serve, serve return, transitional shots and dinking.

PLAY WITH A PRO – This clinic allows you to receive immediate feedback from an instructor while playing with others of similar skill level.  Control, shot selection, and court positioning are some of the key topics covered during this session.

DINKING & DROPPING – This clinic focuses on the softer shots in Pickleball. You will learn the importance and benefits of net play in order to gain control of the non-volley zone.

LOBS & RETRIEVALS – This clinic provides you with instruction to develop and improve your lob execution and retrievals. It is essential when dealing with the strokes, strategies and safety precautions involved in lobbing and retrieving lobs.

TRANSITIONING & MOVEMENTS – This clinic focuses on the shots and strategies necessary to get your team from the baseline to the NVZ and gain control of your game.

BOOT CAMP – Get your game in shape with this 4 session series of clinics.  Boot Camp focuses on the BIG IDEA of transitioning in Pickleball. Dinking, Blocking, Volleys, and Shot selection are just a few of the skills covered in this camp.

Specialty Clinics are taught by Pickleball Charlotte Instructors and experienced local, regional and often national pickleball clinicians and ambassadors. Visit our CourtReserve Online System to view the actual dates, times, availability and to register for a Clinic or Lesson.

Do you like more individual attention and looking to work on specific pickleball skills? Our Private & Semi-Private Lessons allow for you to work for an hour with one of our Pickleball Charlotte Instructors. Private Lessons are available at Pickleball Charlotte at various times most days of the week. Private lessons are per hour. Players are allowed to bring up to three additional players with them to the lesson if they choose for $25 per extra person. You can include in the notes section the type of skills you would like to work on during your lesson.  The primary person is responsible for payments. A few times a year we have some great opportunities for you to come learn from some of the best Pro Pickleball Players in the world. We offer Private Lessons, Group Clinics and “Play with a Pro” sessions. Pricing varies based on the specific pro and type of session. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country and Juniors are the future of Pickleball! At Pickleball Charlotte we are committed to introducing the next generation of players to this great sport.

Clinics
Pickleball Charlotte sponsor and co-sponsor a series of Juniors Clinics and Play Days throughout they year.  Parents / Mentors are encouraged to sign up and learn and play as well. Register and pay online for each person planning to participate in the Clinic. Based on the number, skill and age of players, the format of the Clinic could vary from more instruction to possible round robin play and lots of fun!

Summer Camps
Pickleball Charlotte offers Pickleball Specific Summer Camps for kids ages 8-14 during the summer at our Ballantyne Pickleball location. Each camp will focus on Pickleball Specific Skills and Drills each day, with lots of actual Game Play. No experience or equipment is needed. Open Play
Kids under the age of 18 are welcome to accompany and adult to any of our normal Open Play sessions. Pickleball Charlotte also has special Junior Open Play session for ages 8-18. Check the CourtReserve APP for dates and times.

Junior Academy
We are excited to offer our new Pickleball Charlotte Junior Training Academy coming in 2023. Stay tuned for more details.

Leagues
Is your child ready to play competitively on a weekly basis? In conjunction with our Junior Academy, we plan to create some Youth Specific Leagues in the summer and on select weekends during the year.

Businesses, Schools, Clubs, Neighborhoods, Families, Friends, etc are all welcome to come in and play. We provide the court space, instructors if needed, and a game plan which allows all your participants to have a great time! Pickleball is a great SOCIAL sport. No matter how competitive the game gets, players always greet at the net, tap paddles and look forward to playing the next game with their old and new friends.
